This is the same young good looking man I have met since last winter. His father is a business man in the states and he does not need to work for living. He came to Canada because of his girl friend living in Richmond BC. He changed over the years after he started to use some hormone medication. However, his life goal and living attitude have been the same: Enjoy this life in happiness and in peace. In fact, he knew that there are millions people who are suffering daily for food, safety, peace, and any desirable pro-living. He knew that there are many broken marriages. He knew that this world is filled with all kinds of iniquities and unjust, unfairness, and violence. Yet, he tries to build a self-contained crystal bubble, in which he cares only about himself, and his happiness, and his good feeling. surely, he spend wisely on his daily living. He exercises daily to keep himself young, although he knows that he cannot stop aging. Therefore, last Sunday, he told me that he would prefer to be forever young and happy and peaceful. He also shared that he might kill himself one day when he realizes that he is not young and happy any more. I could not stop laughing with him and told him that what he has been seeking is vanity and temporal. He missed the whole core of happiness and peace and forever living life (eternal life), which all are in Jesus Christ. I told him that he must start to experience others pains and sufferings in order to break up his crystal shell, which could cause his nerve breaking one day if he keeps living in such a glass house. I encouraged him to spend some of his time in some charities and do some good things as he is free of work.
Deep in my heart, I could not blame him more as upon the wickedness of this world, when someone has such an option to enjoy the fullness of the life, he or she should be allowed to enjoy. and I hope that he could enjoy more. what was missing is that he did not realize that everyone shall have the same opportunity like him to enjoy this earthly living. When he thinks only about him, he is selfish and mean. I told him directly that G-d is Love and He commands us to love others as ourselves. He told me that he loves his six-year old girl friend but has no desire to marry her. His reason was not to get hurt. I was speechless for his such selfishness. He knew and agreed with my criticism of his selfishness. I remember the story that Jesus asked a young and rich man who wanted to have eternal life. When Jesus asked him to give all his possessions to the poor and come to follow him, his face turned pale and head bowed down and left in sadness for he has many possessions. Then Jesus told his disciples, "It is easier for a camel to pass the needle of eye than a rich person to go to heaven."
What about you, my friends? do you only care this earthly living? or you cannot give up what you possess in this world in order to follow the Lord Jesus Christ? or you only care your happy and peaceful life on this earth? Bear in mind, what we did and what we said have eternal consequence. If you do not choose to believe, or choose not to believe, your decision cannot nullify the truth on That Day.
Awake your soul, my young and rich people in this world. Do not live in a bubble world. Satan and the evil are running hard to prevent more and more to go to heaven. Do not be one of those who will be swept away by their strong current.
Be rich in Heaven. If you want to know how, read the Bible or come to talk to some street preachers. May peace and truth be upon your hearts one day. Amen.
