I met Troy on a raining evening on Nov 13th 2016. He appeared drunk and was smoking. While he was waiting to pass the street, he listened to my preaching on the street and started a conversation with me. it extended to an hour long interaction.
he questioned a lot of things and told me that when he prayed and prayed in his need, he never got answer. He gave up his belief. I asked him who helped him then. Myself, he said. then, he started to do anti-Christ protest. he called out people to follow Satan and love themselves.. He called out that Satan loves them and fornication is good. when he saw more people came to me to get the Gospel tracts, he became irritated every single time. I enjoyed his unsuccessful companion.
I told him that he was not a bad person at all. When I looked into his eyes, I saw innocent, I saw hurt, and denial. I felt his deep sorrow within. I did not what he made the day but from his appearance and talk, I suspected he is homeless also he denied when I suggested to find a shelter for himself that night.
He continued to stock me from place to place as I determined not to battle with him. but he chose to stick with me wherever I went. My kind warning did not put him off nor affected his decision. I chose to forgive him as he was quite drunk.
I asked him whether he was a Christian before. He showed me a big silver cross hanging on hi neck inside of his cloth. I asked him what happened. He told me that he sold his soul for a $20k gold chain. BY doing what? he did not answer. I suspected that his deal must be very shameful to him to share. Troy is a a fair looking white guy at 30ish. He dressed himself with loose hanging pants and non-tackled shirt, and a jacket. I could not image how he would make a living on the street without hurting his own mind and soul. when he continued to cry out that no one helped him when he was in a much need and in prayer, i felt deeply of his desperation of devastating of his faith. in a return, Satan got him. Satan gave him a chance to meet his need. yet, his conscience and his moral tell him that what he has been doing is not right. but he has no choice and means to run away from them.
when I told him that I was leaving due to the late night, he told me that he would leave at the same time. I noticed that he possibly was very lonely in his soul. We had a hand shake to say good bye. I reminded him again, "Troy, you are not a bad man at all as I can see from your eyes. You shall choose your good part inside of you more than the other part of your heart. " "Thank you. I will see you again. " I removed my glove again and gave him a firm hand shake as he stretched outhis hand again. he looked at my removed glove second time. I noticed that he was checking whether I treated him truly with respect and sincere. Surely, I did not pretend to care for him nor to just finish a job as a hired hand. He ran off to the back of the street.
The encounter of Troy touched me deeply. G-d showed me there are many people who have been slipped into this world due to unanswered prayers, and lonely status. Satan caught them each one so easily. The church must do much more to care about these astray sheep and find these lost sheep and bring them back.
May the Lord forgive Troy's sins and lead him back to repentance. May his tender love and kindness touch him deeply one day. May he know that he can live and must live for the Lord Christ Yahushua one day.
