It was a joy in my heart this morning when I started to run the street preaching and give free copies of the Holy Bible to the strangers. Then, I saw two new faces on the street who were handing out Gospel tracts like what I did before.
I greeted them and had a little chat with them and learned that they were Christians and Baptists. I knew the differences when they proclaimed and asked why they proclaimed Christian first, Baptist second. the brother James told me that he was a Christian then joined Baptist church. I thought no more and went on to do my mission on the street.
after about an hour, they finished their work and about to leave. We were happy to see each other working for the Lord Jesus Christ. I went to them and wanted to have a small discussion as they labored hard in the Sabbath morning as well. "Can I ask you how do you know that you have the Spirit of G-d?" (there were many small questions around and concentrated to a few here.) "the Bible told us that whoever believes in Jesus Christ will receive the Spirit." " Yes, I agree. but how do you know you were born from the Spirit?" "The Bible teaches us that whoever believes in heart and confess with mouth shall be saved." "yes, but it is still your faith to believe that you will be saved. but being born again is very important for us to enter the Kingdom of heaven." I sensed that they were not very clear on the subject and invited him to ask me the same question. "How do you know you were born of the Spirit?" "He gave birth to me." "what do you mean?" "it was recorded in John 3 ." "John 3: 5-8 Jesus answered, "I tell you the Truth, no one can enter the Kingdom of G-d unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying. "you must be born again. the wind blows wherever it please, you hear its sound but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. so it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
I furthered explained that the Spirit is Jesus Christ as in 1 John it says that the Spirit is Truth and Jesus Christ proclaimed that he is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Therefore, Jesus is the Spirit and the Word. He replied,"then , you are Unitarian. " "No, I am not." I tried to find the verse for them but could not due to I remembered wrongly. it was in 1 John 5 not 1 John 3. here is the verse: "This is the one who came by water and blood - Jesus Christ. he did not come by water only, but by water and blood. and it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the Truth.
"Can you read John 1:12?" "surely. " Yet to all who receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of G-d. " The brother James proclaimed that the verse says that we are children of G-d because we believe in Jesus Christ. " "but that is your faith only. here also says that receiving Jesus first and then believing in His Name, then will be granted the right to become children of G-d." if you have not received the Spirit, we cannot become children of G-d. "that is your commentary to the verse." "No, I did not give commentary but shared what it is written with you." They scoffed at my protesting and ended with proclamation. "brother Hanson, we all believe in Jesus Christ. we will all go to heaven. Do not worry." They left with rejection of my sharing and explanation. I told them to read the Proverbs3:5-6. they heard and nodded their heads.
what was not discussed was what they know about the baptisms. whoever has a friend of Baptists shall read the articles about what the Baptists believe and what are the differences they have towards the other denominations. For a true believer must be able to discern the spirits and their teachings. for the discernment of Truth is of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
