It was a cloudy Sunday afternoon when I was preaching of the gospel of Kingdom of heaven on the street near Brig House sky train station. I called out questions like "do you know Jesus Son of G-d?" "Do you know the Name of Jesus Christ?". Normally, no people would answer me or some of Christians nodded their heads. Suddenly, I heard a very loud close to yelling voice, "Yes, I know the Name of Jesus." I found the women and was filled with surprising in my eyes. She looked at me, and continued to speak in a loud voice to tell me about herself in the public station. "I know the Name of Jesus Christ. He is my Savior and Lord. I am Christian since I was young. " "I have a daughter. I always brought her to the church when she was young. Now, she grew up and does not listen to me anymore. " I still fixed my eyes upon her while she was standing on the platform. She said, "I love Jesus very much. I always want to worship him. I pray every time for my daughter to go back to him. She sleeps around and do drugs. My heart has been so hurting. " she almost was crying when she pulled out her deep concerns and cares with deep sorrow for what her daughter was doing, which is complete opposing what she believes and she wants her daughter to be. I was in s shocking status as I perceived such a genuine lady with such a precious but painful heart. This lady is around 40 to 50ish. She dressed in a not expensive clothes and her face was covered with moderate sun spots and wrinkles. She is a medium size with a height of 5"7ish. Based on my experience, she is a working class person.
I have not had my own though except listening. She continued to speak to me with her loud voice, which made me a little uncomfortable as someone might call 911 to make another false report on our conversations. Yet, there was a young lesbian passing by and told her, "Do not be nice to him. He is an asshole." "Pardon me. What did you say?" she asked. The young lesbian said, "He is an ass hole." This lady became very angry with her words, speaking back even louder, "You are ass hole. You are the bad girl. I know he is awesome. He is doing good work here." I was speechless when I heard how she defended for me. "Do bother it. I knew her." I said to her. "Thank you for your kind words." "Do you know my landlord is so harsh to me? I washed his all clothes and other stuff for free when I paid my rent late. He yelled at me all the time. My daughter got mad and went out to smash all the car windows in the parking lot. I was so afraid of that she will go to jail. I went out to swap all the broken glasses. See, how my hands were cut. " she was speaking and crying. Her face was filled with pain and suffering. I have never met one person in such a desperate situation on the street or in my life in a public place. I was so shocked and could not find any words to comfort her.
She continued to pull out her pain and suffering in her life. She told me that one big man with pregnant like belly has been with her for last three years. All he and his friends wanted was sex and drugs. Later on, she discovered how this man laughed at her in her back, she felt so humiliated and shamed as she gave all her to him. Betraying and unworthy caused so much pain in her life so that she almost lost herself on that platform. I was engulfed by her immersing painful life experience and helplessness that she felt. She told me her name and her daughter's name and asked me to pray for them. "Surely I will.", I answered her.
Later on she asked me whether I could speak to her landlord to be kind to her as most of the appliance do not work and he may give her better ones. I have not found a way to help her and she asked me to pray for her. She said, "place your hand on me, pray for me." I was still in hesitation as I did not know whether it was proper in a high flow of people near us. She saw my hesitation and grabbed my right hand and placed on her head and started to pray first. While, I closed my eyes with her, I knew that she always has a right heart. As I remembered in the Bible, Jesus taught us to lead the sinner to pray first, then pray for deliverance for them. Her prayer was filled with pleading and crying for help and deliverance to the Lord. I prayed that the Lord would give her peace. She said I have the peace from the Lord. I prayed that the Lord will give her forgiveness to others. She cried deeply and responded that I cannot forgive them. I cannot forgive them. I repeated my prayer as she was still with me. When I prayed for her forgiveness to others second time, she cried and walked away. I knew how hard for a woman like her to forgive those who hurt her and her daughter so deeply. Yet, those were the words the Lord put on my lips at that time as I found no others words that I could utter.
I was so shocked by such an encounter. I was deeply touched by her life. I knew that the Lord led her to me and made her to share her life in such a loud voice at a public place. I also noticed that I had no knowledge of such a group of Christians who are near us and out of the needed care and prayers. She represents a group of weak and oppressed Christians in this evil and corrupted world. She represents a group of sinking yet hoping Christians struggling in this unfair and unjust world. She represents a group of lowly surviving Christians who are enduring all kind of physical and mental abusing daily and weekly and monthly and yearly. Forgive us. Forgive me, Father. Please cause me to remember her and her daughter every week in my prayers and in my living. If she is a part of our body, we must care for each other and help each other. May your grace and love and forgiveness reach her through your servants. May I be your instrument and healer to heal her wounds and ease her pains soon. I pray in the precious Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
