Last Sunday, November 20th 2016, it was raining and cold. a young 25ish man came to me. I could smell his alcohol from his breath when he talked to me slowly.
He told me that he is addicted to alcohol and cracks. I told him immediately that he could and should never use drugs with alcohol together. It will kill him one day. He told me that he overdosed several times. He knew the dangers and saw many of his friends' death due to overdose. But he did not know why he still survived after several time of overdose.
I asked him whether he was a Christian. He told me not any more. He was raised on the street and has no job no place to stay. I asked him where he normally stay. He said he barely sleep. if so, he would stay at the washroom, bank doorways, some closed entrance. He does not like to stay shelter as it is not safe for him. I asked him where he got the money for the drink and drugs. He laughed with a kind of guilty on his face. I knew that he must do something like sale drug to others, or steal something, or even sale his soul to gain his supply. this is how the evils keep fallen ones in their loops.
He appeared quite drunk or at the wake of drunkenness. He talked slowly most of the time. But he fixed his eyes on me when we were talking. I told him to quite drink and drugs as his life is precious. He said that it is very hard for him to do so. I told him that when we cannot do something, G-d can do everything for us if we ask him sincerely. He asked me whether we can pray together. Surely, I replied.
we prayed at the corner of the ticket both. I asked the Lord to continue to protect him and give him strength to live his life and to know his Savior Christ Yahushua.
He thanked me and I told him to thank G-d. I asked him where he was going. He said he has no money no place to go. I asked him whether he needs some money. He was reluctant to ask me for money. I took out the only bill and gave it to him. I said, "remember, to buy yourself some food not drugs, nor alcohol." he was surprised for the bill and promised me not to do bad with it. then, he said, "I should pray to the Lord." He closed his eyes immediately in that placec and started to pray by himself. I had to do the same to support him. He thanked the Lord for the providee and asked the Lord to protect me. Then, he went off to the sky train.
what stunned me of him (I had no name of him) was that when he received a help from a Christian, he responded to G-d, our Maker. He made a right response. I believed that this is why He still lives after several overdoses. G-d cares for those who fear Him. May this brother forsake the alcohol and drugs soon. May the angles of G-d protect him and lead him out of the misery and additions.
I heard a lot of bad news last week about the fallen of addicts of fentanyl and other potent illicit drug on the market. May he was spared once again.
