Last Sunday, during several quick exchange of emails with an experienced salaried pastor named Steve in the Sates, I learned how sharp his teeth are in order to tear any sheep or "his enemy" in his way. He wrote a blog saying "G-d's preacher shall be well paid and well-respected." by using a Bible verse found in 2 Timothy 5:17-18 to defend that he and others shall be well paid and respected. really? did he consider the following situation while he enjoys a luxury life from others donations that was meant for the poor and needy?
1. some single mother with three little kids who tithes faithfully. does the Lord teach us to keep his two greatest commandment? does the Lord teach us to love others as ourselves? where is love of pastors who enjoy a luxury life ( a high salary, a retirement saving, a housing subsidy from the government, and other benefits undisclosed.) for this group of believers? did they just take verse out from the Bible and twisted or force them for their own benefits? by the way, if they really love the Lord and His truth, what does a luxury life do to them? Or, maybe they have two masters in their hearts.
2.The Lord taught his sent disciples to go to the house having good reputation with peace. If the house is fit for the peace, the peace will remain. Did the Lord teach his disciples to buy a big house or a mega house by receiving donation? absolutely not. If the believer works with his own hands with G-d's blessing, he shall buy a house that the Lord pleases. But by living on donation, and despising the very teaching of Yahushua, the Son of G-d, they sin.
3. The Lord taught that the hired workers do not care for the sheep. ask youself a question when some beleivers are laboring in cold, in rain, in starving, can a salaried pastor have any comfort in a luxury house? No. If he does, he has no care for the sheep.
4. The Lord Yahushua said, "No students is greater than the Teacher, no servant is greater than the Mastor." did Yahushua have any house and a luxury living with well respect from the crowds? No, he had no luxury house. He said " Foxes have dens, Birds have nests, but the Son of man has no place to lay his head. " If Yahushua was so busy for preaching the Gospel to His people, shall all those proclaimed servants of Him labor even more instead of staying or nesting in a house that never was needed? Lots of people did respect the Son of G-d Yahushua. But comparing to the hired workers, they need no similar respect as they were paid. Why? because Yahushua did all those great things for free as they are priceless.
Regarding the question whether the full time serving ministers or preachers shall have a needed support, the answer is Yes. however, it will or shall never be in T4 salary form. G-d says, "All his priests shall have no earthly inheritance (house or possessions), but Himself." All the called full time servants shall have sufficient food and clothes. G-d will provide a place of other believers to support their stay. This is Bibilical and taught straight by the Lord Yahushua, the One and Only Son of G-d the Father in Heaven.
More blessed are those who have a work income and follow the Lord. More blessed are those who labor during the night and preach during the day.
May this sharing bring you some comfort and understanding over who are the true followers of the Lord Yahushua, who are the hired workers. Satan has infiltrated G-d's church with all sorts of temptations and evil desires. whoever cares more about himself is not worthy of being Yahashua's disciple. However loves the staff in this world, the Love of G-d is not in Him. whoever says know the Truth, but keeps not His Commands, he is a liar. ( 1 John 1:15).
May peace be with you when find rest in Yahushua. (Yahushua is the proper translation of the name of the Son of G-d from Hebrew to English. I will start to use this correct Name for my Lord in heaven. ).
